Privacy Screen is a new feature that uses Face ID or Touch-ID to protect your sensitive files from prying eyes.

Using this feature you can store some sensitive files or documents in Google Drive. Also, you can prefer to access them via an iPhone or iPad. With this update, you have advanced security options for keeping them safe.

The latest update to the Drive app for iOS and iPadOS includes a “Privacy screen” toggle, which will require a biometric scan before opening the app. The safety feature works with either Touch ID (fingerprint) or Face ID. Users can also set the app to lock immediately upon switching or wait ten seconds, one minute, or ten minutes. But it may not support locking notifications.

The feature is available in the App Store now.

2. For additional storage, you can upgrade to a premium subscription plan as an in-app purchase.

3. Subscriptions start at $1.99/month for 100 GB in the US and can vary by region.

4. Storage subscriptions purchased from the app will be charged to your iTunes Account, and automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

5. Subscriptions and auto-renewal may be managed by going to iTunes Account Settings after purchase.

It is strange that this feature is available to iOS first and not Android. Google’s own mobile platform supports fingerprint and face scanning only in native areas. But Google’s mobile development teams often work independently—perhaps we’ll see the feature come to Android soon.
