Google donates $300,000 to OSU Open Source Lab

BANGALORE, INDIA: In a novel initiative, internet giant Google has donated a total of $300,000 to the Oregon State University (O.S.U) to take its open source development programs further.

O.S.U provides varied hosting services and supports a range of organizations that are dependent upon the open source platform.

Various organizations such as The Apache Software Foundation, BusyBox, CentOS, Debian Linux, Fedora, Eclipse as well as the Linux Foundation use Open Source extensively and have benefited various sectors such as Education, Government and the Healthcare sector.

For the record, this donation is not Google's first. Google has indulged in these noble acts from the past nine years. OSU has also obtained tremendous benefit through the various philanthropic activities that Google undertakes.

With the latest donation, Google's total monetary support for OSU has crossed the 2 million dollars mark.
