BANGALORE: "Tough problems. Intense competition. No pressure. " Google is looking for engineers with the programming skill to rewrite the world’s information infrastructure and is holding a coding contest, Code Jam 2003, in the hope of finding them. The contest is essentially a timed, online test of programming skills. After two rounds of the code challenge, 25 people will be invited to Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California., to compete for prizes worth $25,000 in cash.

Google plans to evaluate the crop of engineers as job candidates, and says that the work environment in the Googleplex is similar to the tournament. You can use Java, C++, C# or VB.NET. and all are acceptable and none is given an advantage.

Registration for the Google Code Jam 2003 opens on October 1st and ends on October 15th, 2003. Registration is unlimited, but only the top 500 scorers from the Qualification Round will advance to Round 1 of the Code Jam 2003 on October 24th.
