NEW YORK, US: Google Inc and the Associated Press have struck up a new licensing agreement after months of prickly negotiations involving the news cooperative's content both sides said on Monday.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed but both camps sighted new ways of collaborating and distributing AP's content on Google.

"The new relationship allows us to work together to improve the experience for consumers," said Jane Seagrave, AP senior vice president and chief revenue officer.

Google disclosed the new agreement on a blog post on its site.

Google and the AP had a content licensing deal in 2006 that expired at the beginning of the year. For the past several months both sides were in talks to hash out new terms though a bridge agreement allowed Google to use AP news articles and other content.
