Good Tech opens development center in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Good Technology Inc, a wireless handheld computing software and services provider, today announced the opening of its Indian development center here.

The Hyderabad facility would provide engineering development, quality assurance, sales and support for the enterprise software solutions of Good Tech.

Good Tech had in July, acquired key technology assets and engineering talent from the Hyderabad-based JP Mobile Inc.

Talking to media at a press conference here, Danny Shader, chief executive officer and president of Good Technology said, “Today, there are around 650 million email users worldwide but only 10 million of them constitute the corporate mobile email users.”

Ananth Rao, vice-president, business development, Good Technology said, “From the present 10 million user-base, we foresee that in the next five to six years, we will have one billion mobile email users. That's the kind of growth we are projecting.”

Good Technology's enterprise customer-base grew from 30 in 2002 to 7,000 as of now. They operate with 130 carriers including Cingular, Sprint, etc., in 60 countries.

The company's GoodLink and GoodAccess wireless enterprise application solutions would support Palm Inc.'s upcoming Treo smartphones running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 besides supporting Palm-PocketPCs, Symbian powered handhelds, HP's iPaq wireless handhelds, etc.

“We will soon be integrating these applications to Nokia handhelds too,” added Shader without specifying a timeframe.

“Good Technology has device-side software and server-side software thereby making integration and managing easier. Moreover, we provide end-to-end 192-bit AES encryption for data and protocols,” said Shader.
