Godrej Properties to take SAP online

MUMBAI, INDIA: Godrej Properties, the real-estate arm of the Godrej Group is taking its SAP online.

Confirming the development, Shailesh Joshi, vice president, Information Systems, Godrej Industries, said, “The decision to move SAP to the cloud has been taken. Our internal team is currently evaluating the cloud platforms. We will shortly shortlist a few principals who offer niche solutions at competitive rates, and have good case referrals in the real estate sector.”

“Once the transformation journey begins, we will first take the development and QS servers online; we will migrate the production servers at a later date,” he informed.

According to Joshi, the group will migrate all 1,500 to 2,000 SAP users to the private cloud. Godrej Properties uses all the modules of SAP including BI from Business Objects.

Godrej Properties’ move to the cloud comes at a right time, when customers in the real estate industry are increasingly using the online medium to buy homes.

“Twenty percent of our leads in the last year have come through online sales. And we are pretty confident the number will increase going further. Also, currently 14 percent of our booking is through the online medium and we are today focusing on creating a right format for it being a primary and a seamless source of information,” Joshi commented.
