Green is the latest trend these days and keeping with this trend Genius has come up with the Genius SlimStar 820 Solargizer wireless desktop combo. This combo includes a sleek, black multimedia keyboard, a 1600 dpi laser mouse and a 2.4 GHz mini receiver.

The keyboard has a unique spill proof design, with mid-low profiled key structure that provides increased efficiency and excellent key feedback. It has 17 multimedia keys ranging from media keys to Internet hot keys, which worked great with the designated functions. The wireless keyboard has a solar charging panel on the front for the main operational power, and a MiniUSB charging port and an AA alkaline cell compartment for backup power. The mouse uses 2 AA batteries, lets you switch between 800-1600 dpi and has an LED power indicator for displaying battery status. It worked perfectly fine with games or during general use. Also, the mouse can be switched off in order to prevent batteries from draining out.

The only quirk was that the software suite that had to be installed for the multi-media keyboard; it started 16 extra processes which hogged memory like crazy. Otherwise, it is a great eco-friendly product that looks after environment safety by minimizing the pains of battery disposal.
