CALCUTTA: Globsyn Webel–the joint venture between Globsyn Technologies and West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation (Webel)–is now working on a Rs 160 crore ‘e-office’ project in Saltlec, Calcutta. The project, which will be built on a 8.59 acre land, will have a total of ten buildings. Five of these will be Smart Towers–standalone buildings for exclusive ownership and the rest will be Smart Centers or standalone blocks for smaller space users. The project is expected to commence from July this year.

Bikram Dasgupta, Chairman & CEO, Globsyn Technologies, said, "The aim of the e-office concept is to provide value-based cost-effective solution to clients in an IT-enabled environment. Globsyn aims to be a total IT service provider. The e-offices will provide for incubation and TechnoCampus and the software development wing of the group will help clients in developing their ideas."

The buildings in the Smart Island will be connected to the Infinity communication backbone and draw its ‘intelligence’ from it. Infinity–the hi-tech building built at an estimated cost of Rs 56 crore–was inaugurated in February this year. The first tower, which is now fully occupied, has 11 floors and 110,000 sq.ft. of space. The second tower, which will be completed in another year’s time, will have 17 floors and 190,000 sq.ft. of usable space. The first tower now houses names like Modi Telstra, Dishnet DSL, Global Telesystems, I-Kinetics India Pvt. Ltd., Kanika Infotech and others.
