BANGALORE: Globsyn Technologies Limited has launched Plan 2000 under which it
announced a series of initiatives to create knowledge infrastructure in the
country. This would be created by Globsyn's business initiatives focused on
three main parameters of knowledge infrastructure foundation, capabilities, and
enablers.
Elaborating on Globsyn's concept of Knowledge Infrastructure, Globsyn
Technologies chairman Bikram Dasgupta said that it covered the full spectrum of
the 'feed-stock' needed to fuel the knowledge economy. According to a release,
the plan consisted of the creation of a foundation of software skills and
enhancing software capabilities through e-services. It will extend up to playing
a catalyst role by creating enablers (comprising Web-initiatives). Globsyn's
Plan 2000 consists of expansion of existing areas of business, such as the
TechnoCampus initatives, as well as entering new businesses such as Net learning
and a knowledge protal.
Under its initiative for setting up the foundation for Knowledge
Infrastructure, Globsyn technologies will expand its existing education services
by adding nine new TechnoCampus Centers throughout the country, the release
said. Globsyn Technologies announced that four of these, located at New Delhi,
Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneshwar became operational today. These are in
addition to Globsyn's flagship TechnoCampus located at Calcutta, which will now
act as the research hub for the growing network of TechnoCampus Centers.
The five TechnoCampus centers have the capacity to train 800 full-time and
1,000 part-time software professionals. By the end of the year Globsyn expects
to have annual capacity in place to train 1,500 full-time and 2,000 part-time
software professionals. In addition, four overseas TechnoCampus centers, to be
located in Korea, Dubai, Malaysia and Bangladesh are expected to be up and
running within the next twelve months.
The comapny will offer new courses at its' TechnoCampus Centers, introduce
distance learning of software skills and launch a new franchise model for
learning of Net skills. This should help bridge the widening gap in demand and
supply of quality and market relevant IT professionals in the country, the
release added.
It is in the process of designing its knowledge portal (knowledgepub.com),
which will provide a spectrum of knowledge services including distance learning,
on-line seminars, workshops and industry meets on topical industry and technical
issues. Also, on the anvil is eGlobsyn - for acquiring Net or specialized domain
skills, under which Globsyn Technologies will set up a network of at least 50
Net Learning Centers around the country offering a mix of instructor led and
self paced learning.
The company is also considering entering the area of Internet consulting and
services, through the eGlobsyn initiative. In order to implement these growth
plans, the company has undertaken corporate re-organization and structuring.
Globsyn is currently in the process of setting-up a full-fledged marketing base
in Delhi and Bangalore and plans to grow its' international business by 100 per
cent, through setting up two additional offices in the US this year.
