Global Electronic Commerce Service, a part of
the $135 million Global group, will target the `e’ business community
through its e-communications and e-commerce technology solutions. The
messaging solutions will allow e-mail to fax, fax to e-mail integration of
mails from different platforms and mail systems. The enhanced fax services
is expected to reduce business communications cost by 30 per cent.
For e-commerce requirements, the company has announced frame relay
virtual private network solutions for companies with offices in different
locations, a cheaper alternative to private leased lines. Corporates can
also opt to share Global’s network or route it through Global’s
network as an alternative to a busy network traffic. The company also uses
Nortel’s Passport switching enabling shared network bandwidth through
committed information network. This will enabled corporates to focus on
their core business as Global manages the network and the servers.
In the next two months, the company will be enabled commerce related
data exchanges as part of its solutions for e-commerce. The company will
set up data centers for hosting India/Asia centric Web sites, making India
a regional hub. Companies can also run databases and applications off the
servers at the data center. Global has also created business communities
for automotive industry and cargo for electronic data exchange.
The company, a Category A ISP licensee, has been providing Internet
bandwidth to corporates since December 1998. From December this year, this
will be extended to the retail segment through business partners who will
front end its services.
