BANGALORE: National Semiconductor Corporation has announced that it is in
talks with a couple of top companies in the industry who are interested in
setting up manufacturing base for Gigabyte Ethernet cards in the country.
According to National Semiconductor, this initiative with the undisclosed
companies will bring the 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet card against the traditional
10/100 Mbps solution. This will help increase the performance of
network computing at affordable cost. National Semiconductor director
ASEAN region and operations Jayant Bhat pointed out that India has a large
consumption base and the company sees a big market emerging in the
infrastructure space.
Commenting further Jayant said, "The infrastructure market is going to take
off by the early part of next year and we will have our strategies and
engagements in place before that. The Indian market will remain our focused
area."
The company has also introduced the industry's first technology GeodeLink system
architecture, exclusively designed for a new breed of information appliances,
including Thin Clients, Personal Internet access devices, Set Top Boxes,
etc. The GeodeLink system architecture is the latest development of the
company's Geode processors, which are currently being used in more than 120
information appliance designs from companies like Acer, AOL/Philips, Compaq,
Dell, Honeywell, IBM, Microsoft and Samsung. Breaking away from traditional
design methods, the new technology enables features that allow system
integration to achieve better performance and price.
"Our continued innovations in system-on-a-chip integration for the IA
market keep National at the forefront driving the Information Age," said
Jayant. "The introduction of this new enabling technology proves that we
are moving a step further to provide the most optimal IA solution. With our
GeodeLink technology, people will be able to enjoy enhanced multimedia
experience via wired or wireless connections."
