ACCRA, GHANA: - Ghana's labour regulator has toldmobile phone operator Vodafone Ghana, majority owned by Britain's Vodafone Group, to suspend its plan to lay off 950 workers, the regulator said on Thursday."We (the Labour Commission) have asked management to stay off the redundancy action for now," spokesman Mohamed Affum told Reuters.

"It is to provide both parties further opportunity to go back and hear each other and reach some agreement," he said.

Vodafone paid $900 million for a 70 per cent stake in then state-owned Ghana Telecom last year.
