MUMBAI, INDIA: Mumbai-based Janitor Data has launched an insurance scheme for hard disks. As computer usage and dependency on computers in office as well as at home increases, users have become more vulnerable to data loss owing to virus, sabotage, etc.

Keeping this trend in mind Janitor Data is offering a way of retrieving data through insurance schemes.

Throwing light on the scheme, Jayessh Barodia, Director, Janitor Data, said, “To avail the insurance policy, one has to pay Rs 399 for one year for desktops, and Rs 3,500 for three years for laptops. The forms are available in hard as well as soft copy. By paying the listed amount anybody can register their hard disk with us. In case of data loss they can send the disk to us and we will recover the lost data and send it back to them.”

For the initiative Janitor Data has joined hands with a courier company, who will confidentially deliver the recovered data disk to the destination.

Barodia also had a tie-up with Samsung for the scheme but the relationship didn’t continue for long, because of a misunderstanding between the two. Barodia is also negotiating with major desktop and laptop vendors for a tie-up and is also looking at work with the channel.
