BERLIN, GERMANY: M-net, the rapidly growing quad-play communications services provider serving a large part of Bavaria and greater Ulm region in southern Germany, is deploying a next-generation multimedia services platform by Telsis as part of a move to compete head-to-head with its national-coverage rivals.
The Telsis Ocean Services Platform will enable swift creation and roll-out of new multimedia services by M-net's own Java coders, enabling the CSP to attract and retain high-value corporate customers by offering ultra-fast delivery of unique applications tailored to their individual needs. M-net has some 280,000 commercial and domestic customers and posted sales in 2012 of 182m Euros.
Notes Turgay Yoo, head of services development at M-net:"Our Telsis services technology really levels the playing field. The big national players are obviously very well resourced, but Telsis lets us combine cutting-edge applications with the speed of reaction and flexibility that only a smaller operation like ours can achieve."
M-net has leveraged Telsis services platforms since 2008, first deploying an IN solution, then becoming one of the first users to ready itself for migration to IMS by upgrading to a SIP-capable version. Says Yoo: "We've around 10% of customers on SIP connections and 90% on TDM at the moment, but that's going to change dramatically over the next few years. Our focus has therefore been on putting in place a services capability that gives us backwards compatibility while at the same time enabling a controlled evolution to an entirely IMS domain. The new Telsis platform will run alongside the existing one, giving us the ability to load share and trial new applications for select groups of customers without impacting services for the majority."
The Telsis Ocean Services Platform runs on standards COTS servers, is user-programmable, and is built from the ground up to support the fast development of new multi-media services by operators' own in-house teams. It achieves the same carrier-grade, greater than 99.999% availability of alternative core network services platforms, but it includes its own Java-based programming environment that allows new services to be designed, built, tested and deployed very quickly. Operators can use their own programmers, or contract the work to the independent Java coding house of their choice, to create services according to their own market needs and timetable.
To facilitate even faster return on investment, and reduce costs, the Ocean Services Platform includes a suite of generic services that can be quickly customised and deployed by operators. And unlike many alternative solutions, the Ocean Services Platform runs multiple services concurrently, rather than being limited to the provision of a single service.
The Telsis mission is to enrich people's lives through innovations in communications technology and services. Over 25 years, Telsis has provided tier-1 network operators with flexible infrastructure and compelling services in voice, text and video. From TDM, through IP-based networks to IMS and LTE, Telsis provides evolutionary solutions to match customers' network developments and enable the provision of advanced services today.
Telsis' portfolio of services is backed by proven engineering skills, system integration expertise, and a deep understanding of human factors, all of which combine in solutions that enable operators to offer their customers exciting and practical services with compelling real-world appeal.
