German data centre market to increase capacity by over 42 percent over five-year period

DUBLIN, IRELAND: Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Data Centre Pricing Germany - 2012" report to its offering.

German data centres are poised for growth over the next five years, with a gradual increase in rack space pricing and raised floor space over the period.

A new report published by Tariff Consultancy Ltd (TCL) Data Centre Pricing Germany - 2012 shows that the German data centre market - with over 379,000 square metres of raised floor space available as of the end of 2012.

The German data centre market will be one of the largest in Europe over the period, second only to the UK. The German market has until recently suffered from intense price competition with data centre providers discounting their services. But, into 2012, selected data centre providers have started to increase average price levels and have reduced the promotional pricing that was rife.

By the end of 2012, over 22,000 square metres of new data centre capacity is being introduced around the Frankfurt area by wholesale provider E-Shelter alone. Consolidation is also taking place in the German data centre market. Telehouse Europe has also recently purchased Frankfurt data centre provider, Databurg, and Equinix has purchased Frankfurt-based telehousing specialist, Ancotel.
