The latest release expands upon a set of advanced accelerators for Spring development, providing new options for generating Adobe Flex, Spring MVC, Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Spring Web Flow and iPhone Web applications.

“The focus of this release is to extend the productivity benefits of our Spring scaffolding capabilities into the development of Rich Internet Applications. By adding support for the rapid development of Flex and GWT front-ends, we’re giving our users more options and more flexibility,” said Todd Williams, vice president of technology for Genuitec.

“Reusing existing assets like database tables and JPA entities in the development of new application front-ends has never been easier,” added Williams.

The most widely anticipated features in MyEclipse for Spring 8.6 are the new scaffolding capabilities for Spring Web Flow, Adobe Flex, GWT and iPhone Web allowing developers to generate up to 5 fully functional, ready-to-run applications from existing artifacts such as database schemas, Java Beans, JPA entities, and WSDL documents added the release.

Other new capabilities include additional Spring development editors, Code Assistants, for simplifying the annotation-based development of Services, Controllers and Web Services. The new feature assists developers using annotation-based programming by helping them understand what annotations are available and in what context the annotation should be used.

"This release brings us one step closer to our goal of delivering a full-featured Spring development solution that meets the needs of developers with a variety of backgrounds. For users who are looking to learn new technologies like Flex, GWT or Spring Web Flow, MyEclipse for Spring allows them to quickly create their own contextual examples that they can then reference while getting up to speed on the new technology,” said Niel Eyde, director of product management for Skyway Software.

“Meanwhile, developers who are experts in these technologies can stop worrying about the boilerplate code, and let MyEclipse for Spring take care of all the mundane, repetitive tasks,” added Eyde.
