GATE 2021: IIT Bombay opens correction window; Last date to change city, paper, category November 13

GATE 2021 Result Declared on GOAPS website at 10 PM on March 19

IIT Bombay is reopening the GATE 2021 registration portal today, that is October 28, 2020. This is to help candidates who wish to change their choice of exam centres and cities. The correction window will be open from October 28 to November 13, 2020.

As IIT Bombay said, “The change(s), one or combinations, can be made one-time only during Wednesday 28th October 2020 to Friday 13th November 2020; by login at GOAPS portal using candidates’ valid login credentials. Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, GATE 2021 committee has decided to give more options to the successfully registered candidates to modify the choice of cities for GATE 2021 examination at free of cost.”

So what changes does GATE 2021 allow?

This time, IIT Bombay has added a total of 11 new cities. They are:

IIT Bombay (Zone – 2) Seven new cities added:

(i) Himatnagar (GJ),

(ii) Palghar (MH),

(iii) Latur (MH),

(iv) Akola (MH),

(v) Dhule (MH),

(vi) Ichalkaranji (MH),

(vii) Sangamner-Loni-Shirdi (MH)

IIT Kharagpur (Zone – 6) Three new cities added:

(i) Baharampur-Murshidabad (WB),

(ii) Hazaribag (JH),

(iii) Machilipatnam (AP)

IIT Roorkee (Zone – 8) One new city added:

(i) Kangra (HP)

Cost of change in GATE 2021 paper

The candidates must note that the change in the city is free of cost. That is, they do not need to pay any fee for it. But the change of existing paper would cost them INR 500 per paper. Further, they can even add a paper. That would cost the candidates INR 500 plus the amount per paper for the candidate’s category. Also, the change of gender to female or vice versa would require the applicant to deposit the fee of INR 500.

(i) Change in choice of examination cities – FREE of cost

(ii) Change of existing paper - ₹500

(iii) Add a second paper (from given combinations with respect to the primary paper) - ₹500 plus a suitable amount per paper for the candidate’s category

(iv) Change of gender to female - ₹500

(v) Change of gender from female to any other gender - ₹500 + ₹750 = ₹1250

(vi) Change of category to SC/ST - ₹500

(vii) Change of category from SC/ST to any other - ₹500 + ₹750 = ₹1250

(viii) Change from Non-PwD to PwD - ₹500

(ix) Change from PwD to Non-PwD - ₹500 + ₹750 = ₹1250

(x) Any other change in category (not mentioned above) - ₹500.

Read the official notification for more details. As per the official information, GATE 2021 is scheduled to be held on February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14. The admit cards will be made available from January 8, 2021.
