BANGALORE: Gartner Inc. has acquired Aims Management Consultants (AMC),
thereby formally creating Gartner India Research and Advisory Services Private
Ltd. Gartner India will be home to 11 analysts who focus on India-based
technology research for Gartner clients. The acquisition was completed on
October 1, 2001 and the terms of the deal was not disclosed by the media
statement released.
"India's information technology sector has become a sophisticated
contributor to the global business and technology landscape," said
Gartner's chairman and CEO, Michael Fleisher. "We look forward to serving
clients in India as well as sharing our insights on the Indian marketplace with
our more than 11,000 Gartner clients worldwide."
Gartner and AMC have been working jointly in India during the past four and a
half years. The newly formed company will continue to maintain the services of
AMC analysts currently located in Mumbai. Sujay Chohan has assumed the post of
country director of research for Gartner India.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Gartner India research coverage includes
telecommunications, hardware platforms, IT services, enterprise software,
e-business and the recently launched business strategy research initiative,
GartnerG2.
