Over these years, the gaming industry has expanded into three disjunctive segments explicitly Mobile gaming, Console gaming, PC and Online gaming. This categorisation in the gaming industry has evolved due to multi-fold reasons which have also been the driving forces for the growth of the industry. The high percentage presence of the young population in the country is the vital factor behind the industry's growth. ‘With a market share of 62 per cent in 2009, Console Gaming has been the largest contributor in total gaming revenues followed by mobile gaming (23pc) and online and PC gaming (15pc)', as cited in a research report. However, recently The PC gaming has advanced on a full swing with as it offers a blend of amazing graphics, physics effects, advanced lighting, geometric realism, and more detailed textures that are not available on the console gaming.

The workaholic and desire to have a leisure time nature has caused a significant rise in penetration of personal computers and mobile phones resulting in the expansion of mobile and PC gaming in India. Also, the steady rise in the number of wireless subscribers with increasing usage of data has enabled phones in providing a strong base for the gaming industry. Now you can game on the go. The online gaming segment is being driven mostly because of the increasing internet users and the growth of internet cafes that aim to attract customers by installing online games.

Gaming has become a true passion amongst the people, though mostly in the urban regions of the country. But what restricts gaming to the urban inhabitants is the imposition of indirect taxes and high custom duties that results in the price hike of games by 40pc. The less price-sensitive and tech savvy nature of these fanatic gamers has encouraged brands to come up with an extensive range of gaming products. With an aim to provide exceptional gaming experience and move past the competitors in the industry, the brands are facilitating its further growth. The Indian gaming industry constitutes a marginal share of 1 per centin the global gaming industry and 8 per centof the outsourcing industry but with the revolution in the gaming technology both in terms of internal and external quality products and player performance, the industry promises the potential of acquiring a large domestic market. With brands coming up with state-of-the-art features like motion gaming, 3D gaming effects, special gaming monitors, sleek consoles and wireless remotes, the gaming industry in India has a lot to experiment and offer in the future. The success of these features and much more has given the necessary impetus to the gaming industry which was earlier passing through the lull.

The amalgamation of our culture, rising urban incomes, education, development in the IT and Telecom sector have created a perfect platform for the gaming industry to flourish. What measures the success of gaming in cohesive sense is that it is progressively moving from our bedrooms to our living rooms and from our living rooms to places without hampering our mobility. Whilst it also faces obstacles which make it suffer from lack of adequate skilled labour, lack of talent, tax incentives, government aid etc. The gaming industry needs to keep introducing fresh concepts, stunning designs and innovative features to meet its immense potential in order to subsist in India as a successful industry.
