[Funding] Short Video App Chingari raises $1.3 Million in Seed Funding

TikTok rival Chingari that came into fame after the former's ban has raised $1.3M in seed funding. The company said the funding will be used to hire more talent to accelerate product development. It will also ramp up the platform and make it more engaging and consumer focussed. The company further wants to engage a larger consumer base by offering a seamless short video entertainment experience.

The round was led by venture capitalists. Further, the list included AngelList India, Utsav Somani's iSeed, Village Global, LogX Ventures, and Jasminder Singh Gulati of NowFloats.

Co-founder and CEO of Chingari App Sumit Ghosh said:

"We are happy to have amazing investors like AngelList India, Utsav Somani's iSeed, Village Global and its amazing network of entrepreneurs and global leaders, LogX Ventures and some reputed angels. We're delighted that investors saw the immense potential in our vision and chose to join the Chingari journey."

About Chingari

Chingari is a short video making app similar to TikTok. Currently, it has a 25-million strong user base and more than three million daily active users. It had even recently emerged as the top winner in the "Social" category of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge". It won the prize money of Rs 20 lakh.

A Chingari user can download and upload videos, chat with friends, interact with new people, share content, and browse through feed, among other things. Chingari also allows its users to creative WhatsApp status, videos, audio clips, GIF stickers, and photos, and become popular. Besides English and Hindi, one can use the app can in multiple Indian languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu.
