The initial plans to virtualise 700 desktops during the first phase of the implementation has led to improved productivity and efficiency of Fullerton India employees, while improving the maintenance and manageability of IT infrastructure.

Fullerton India was facing a steep challenge in managing a traditional desktop environment. Slower response time of applications and greater down time due to issues with older desktops was proving to be counterproductive in many cases.

As the traditional desktops were nearing the end of their lifecycle, Fullerton India was looking at new technology innovations in end-point computing, which were cost effective and could resolve the pain-points of users. Citrix had implemented server virtualization for Fullerton India in 2009, and the company decided to replicate its success for desktop virtualisation with XenDesktop.

After a successful POC for three months, Fullerton India rolled out Citrix XenDesktop deployment with Anunta Tech as the implementation partner. The first phase covering 700 desktops is well underway and the second phase is to be completed by March 2014, which will replace 1500 additional desktops.

Post the implementation of Citrix XenDesktop, IT administrators can easily manage thousands of PCs as a single unit, from a central location, regardless of hardware or vendor type. A

dditionally, employees can now also securely access their desktops from any location and devices. This has directly improved productivity and efficiency of users, and the number of help desk tickets concerning end-points is expected to reduce by 30 percent. The solution has also led Fullerton India to achieve power savings of up to 70 percent.
