BANGALORE, INDIA: A new report published by research firm Gartner in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), included Fujitsu, a provider of ICT-based business solutions, in Low-Carbon and Environmental Leadership in the ICT Industry.
The Low-Carbon and Environmental Leadership in the ICT Industry-2010 provides comprehensive rankings for ICT vendors in five headline categories. Fujitsu is ranked as number 1 in 2 of the 5 categories: ‘Transformation of IT’ and ‘Internal Environmental Performance”, said a press release.
The Gartner and WWF study examines how 19 participating technology and service providers are responding to customer needs today — and in the future — by focusing on GHG reduction, the release added.
Atsuhisa Takahashi, president, Corporate Environmental Strategy Unit at Fujitsu said, “We welcome the findings from this Gartner and WWF report as an independent affirmation of Fujitsu’s long-term commitment to environmental initiatives, and will help customers to better understand which ICT vendors are truly leaders in Green ICT.”
“In the future we foresee a world where carbon emission metrics can be sensed, measured and displayed in real time, helping to manage our activities as they relate to the global environment,” he added.
Fujitsu’s global green IT initiative, Green Policy Innovation, aims to achieve a cumulative reduction in worldwide CO2 emissions of more than 15 million tons over the four-year period from fiscal 2009 through fiscal 2012. During fiscal 2009, Fujitsu achieved a global reduction of 2.37 million tons, exceeding the target of 2.13 million tons, the release added.
