Fujifilm intros 12 new cameras in India

FujifilmNEW DELHI, INDIA: Fujifilm, one of the leaders in photographic products and solutions, has unveiled 12 new digital cameras. All these models have High Definition (HD) capabilities with multiple features.

While unveiling the new cameras here on Thursday, Fujifilm said the company is optimistic about these products and it recognizes India as one of the important markets.

Takeshi Higuchi, senior vice president, Fujifilm Holdings and Fujifilm Corporation, said that they are optimistic about the market potential and the company's production capabilities, despite the recent tsunami and earthquake in Japan.

“In the past too, we witnessed several earthquakes, but each time Japan recovers from natural calamities. Some of the manufacturing facilities were affected; however, the members of staff have 100 per cent energy and are back to normal,” he said.

Shipped 1.4 mn digital cameras in March

Fujifilm has shipped 1.4 million digital cameras globally in March alone, and has achieved 26 per cent growth in 2010, which according to the company is a big achievement. Over the period of two years, it has increased its market share by 2.5 per cent and enjoys a share of total 10 per cent of the global market.

The company said that Middle East is becoming a volume driver. Its major sales come from China, Brazil, Russia and India, and the company is expected to double its shipment for this region.

“We put more energy and resources to the emerging countries and India will be more focused market for us, this year,” Higuchi said.

A Rajkumar, country general manager (DSC), Fujifilm India said they have incorporated hybrid viewfinder technology right from entry-level to high-end cameras, and this gives them a competitive edge.

Rajkumar said that Fujifilm spends 7 per cent of its total revenues in R&D activities.
