Free online course for IT professionals

Walk into the Sunstone Business School. The magnificent campus at Noida is all set to woo IT/ITes professionals. For the time crunched tech savvies, the institute has created a free online course that leverages the business lore of fast-changing technologies.

With a unique concept to facilitate professionals across spectrum, the institute offers specialized management programs to upskill them. Sunstone has unveiled country's first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with real-time decision-making tools.

Speaking to CIOL, Sunstone Business School director Rajul Garg said that business education needs to be reinvented. "It's all about new way of education. Industry is looking for people with business sense, especially in the e-commerce and Web 2.0 domains," he said.

The institute offers one-year PG program (PGP) and free online course with an optional paid workshop. "Our endeavor is to equip individuals with entrepreneurship skills and organizational behavior so that they could carve a niche in their sector," informed Garg.

Majority of enrollments, he said, are from the IT industry. With accomplishments in the areas of Internet, social media and mobile, the business side of industry is changing rapidly, Garg feels. "Today, a plethora of information is available, therefore we focus on its application," he added.

Sunstone enrols individuals with 5 to 10 years of experience in IT/ITes and telecom industries. Online programs generally vary from 2 to 3 weeks with an average 10 to 12 hours a week.

Technology is a strong enabler while business side of career path needs a boost, believes Garg. "It's a place for those who want to truly learn business in a different way," he said. Sunstone also helps individuals to get into right business roles. "Our courses are interactive. No other institute has such curriculum," Garg claims.
