Features: FPGA IP from Xilinx Inc, is a fully verified intellectual property (IP) core for implementing Controller Area Networks (CAN) in automotive design.






The IP offering, developed by the Xilinx Hyderabad team, complements the expansion of its Xilinx Automative (XA) family of Programmable Logic devices (PLDs). The CAN LogiCORE solution that can be used standalone or with embedded Xilinx processors, offers complete set of features to implement the CAN protocol with all Xilinx XA Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) offerings and address the dynamic requirements of the automotive market.





Xilinx also stated that CAN protocol is commonly utilized in gateways, body and door electronics, automated Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), dashboard and other driver information and safety-related applications.





Currently, the European and US automakers have adopted CAN as a standard protocol and there seems to be a growing popularity in Japan and Asia-Pacific.
