BANGALORE, INDIA: Web management solutions provider Foundry Networks Inc. has bagged the third position in the worldwide Carrier Ethernet Switch/Router (CESR) market, the firm today said quoting research firm Heavy Reading.
A Foundry statement said the firm’s worldwide sales of Carrier Ethernet Switch/Router platforms have increased consistently and grown market share sequentially in every quarter over the last six quarters.
“Much of that growth is attributed to large carrier and service provider wins, including at least four top tier service providers, deploying its NetIron XMR/MLX routers and FastIron platforms as the integral part of metro and Internet core backbones,” commented Stan Hubbard, senior analyst for Heavy Reading.
The Heavy Reading report, which profiles 12 CESR vendors, showed demand for CESR platforms surged 26 per cent year-over-year through Q1 2008. A combination of overlapping factors will drive the CESR growth, Heavy Reading’s June 2008 report said.
