BANGALORE: One of the biggest captive centers in India, Dell International Services has denied any move by the company to shift back call center jobs to the US from Bangalore. This episode was sparked off following media reports that Corporate customers of Dell had complained about accent meted out at the Indian call center and hence planned to move jobs back to the US.

However Dell in Bangalore maintained, "we are committed and are staying back in India. We promise to continue to invest and mete out quality service to our customers," according to the company's spokesperson.

Texas based Dell has roughly 6000-call center seats in India spread across Bangalore and Hyderabad. Plans are also on by the company to set up a center in Chandigarh within the next couple of months. The largest PC maker was one of the firsts to move to India to set up a voice based support center in Bangalore in April 2001.

While contradicting the colleague's statement made in the US, the Indian spokesperson claimed ignorance by commenting, "Now I don’t know why somebody has made such a comment, considering that we are rapidly expanding our operations in India."

A spokesman for direct sales giant had reportedly mentioned that customers were not satisfied with the service that they receive and hence planned to move calls back to US to ensure higher quality of service. Media reports had also pointed out accent as one of the reasons for the company's corporate customers finding it difficult to communicate with support service personnel over the phone routed from India.

Unperturbed not only Dell has earmarked substantial investment on Indian BPO capabilities but joining them are Global blue chip companies like Accenture, JP Morgan, HSBC, Standard Chartered, World Bank, among others.
