Focus on service delivery: Kundra urges developers

LOS ANGELES, US: We need to make sure that CIOs stress on service delivery, pointed out Vivek Kundra, CIO, US Federal Govt here today.

In his brief address at the annual geek amalgam from across the world at Microsoft Professional Developer Conference 2009, Kundra put the spotlight on applications and their potential in the new cloud order.

"I urge you to really focus on service delivery with applications in areas ranging from jobs, healthcare, governance etc." he said as he addressed a vast sea of developers here.

"We want to really focus on service delivery rather than spending billions of dollars in infrastructures," he added insisting developers to unlock their creativity and leverage the power of cloud platforms to go beyond infrastructures.

He put the growth of data centers from around 500 to over 1200 in Federal Government over the last few years, as a context to his point.

He also cited a data application called 'Career finder' which he said didn't take years to develop.

"I am looking forward to the creativity of thousands of developers here today, and to thousands of applications being created here forth." Kundra concluded.
