There was a time when mobile was used only for communicating over long distances, but not anymore. From video chatting with a friend who resides in the other part of the world to making instant bill payments to grocery shopping to wedding planning, or to just while away time by networking with friends or playing games, smartphones have become an extended part of our identities. There is an app for almost everything that’s part of our daily lives.

The need to have the phone close by and charged is an example of how important they are and the extent of our dependence on them. The mobile devices have influenced people in a variety of ways. But here we show you five ways that mobile apps are changing the way people do things.

Communications:

As we said, we are no longer living in the times where cell phone-cum-mobiles were used to make only calls. In the age of smartphones, making a call is the last thing we do with our phone thanks to millions of apps that make communication easy and accessible all the time. Social media apps allow people to share anything and everything they want with a group of friends and even connect businesses to their customers. Like Uberconference, this allows people to talk face to face even when they are world apart. WhatsApp, the messenger app, allows communicating via text messages and even helps us make calls without using the phone balance.

Entertainment:

Every time we find ourselves alone or even otherwise, our smart phones offer so many different ways to stay entertained. Apps like YipTV allow users to watch international TV channels in English and Spanish online without the need of a television and cable service. For Indians, Erosnow.com, Hungama.com or Hotstar.com, allow watching movies online right on your mobile device or tablet. The users of these streaming apps can control what they watch, when they watch it and where they watch it.

We have always been trying to find ways to stay organized. The busier a person’s life is, the harder it can be to stay organized. Apps such as Evernote helps to stay organized starting from calendars that can sync with others automatically to create to-do lists to setting reminders. The mobile apps are becoming people’s virtual assistant without the cost of paying a person.

Budgeting:

Budgeting apps such as Mint can make sure we are aware of what we can afford and how we can afford it. The ability to access all of this financial information gives more control. Mobile banking apps have made it real easy to access money at any time of the day or night. Bill paying apps allow to automatically scheduling payments and for transferring money you have hundreds of different apps.

Information:

There are many apps that give people access to the information they want right away. Mobile apps such as Google Maps provide us with directions for the destination we want to reach; then there are apps that let us know about nearby restaurants or holiday offers or latest movies.
