Euphonic selected Synopsys' silicon-proven DesignWare IP because it offered the most comprehensive suite of digital controllers and mixed-signal PHY that met their power, feature and performance requirements. Further, Euphonic benefitted from obtaining all the PCI Express IP from a single vendor and had convenient access to an experienced local technical support team, which enabled them to lower integration risk and speed time to market.

Euphonic needed an eight-lane PCI Express interface to meet the high bandwidth requirements of the EGC601 graphics controller, which supports up to five different imaging layers without intervention of the host CPU. After evaluating several IP providers, Euphonic chose Synopsys because the DesignWare IP for PCI Express exceeded the performance requirements and was extremely low in power consumption.

In addition, Euphonic was impressed with the on-chip diagnostic and ATE capabilities of the PHY, which allowed them to get from initial silicon to production test within a matter of weeks. According to Euphonic, Synopsys' offering was unparalleled.
