WALTHAM:Telerik  has announced that its customer Bhagwan Marine, a leader in servicing the oil and gas industry, together with partner, Glenfield Digital Group, has released the first mobile app for offshore energy vessel management. The app, LiveFleet, enables customers to track the company's vast fleet of marine vessels, offering real-time data access and geolocation capabilities.

The app is currently available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Bhagwan Marine wanted to be the first to leverage technology to promote its business in a bold way, setting it apart from industry-standard four-color printed brochures. The company decided to pursue a mobile app that would organize extensive vessel information and specifications, show vessel location in real-time, offer push notifications, pictures and more. It would also help manage Bhagwan Marine's 700 person workforce, a critical need since 90 percent of staffers work remotely.

"Off-shore energy production is a complex and competitive industry. Companies want real-time information about staff, vessels and resources, in a quick and concise manner," said Richard Sojka, Managing Director, Glenfield Digital Group. "The service Bhagwan Marine provides to its many customers is unique. It was the first to leverage mobile with its LiveFleet app, which puts it ahead of its competition."

Telerik was selected as the technology platform of choice. Initially leveraging the Telerik Sitefinity Web Content Management system (WCM), Bhagwan Marine was able to centralize fleet vessel data with a custom module it constructed for the web content management system. It then integrated it with the Telerik Platform and Telerik Kendo UI:

Telerik AppBuilder and Kendo UI were used to build the app for any platform, including Android and iOS, while also providing a native look and feel

Telerik Backend Services (Mobile BaaS) provides a central point in the cloud for editing and distributing all content

Telerik Analytics enables the team to review usage metrics in real-time, so Bhagwan Marine can refine tactics as needed to maximize effectiveness

The app was launched in February 2014, at the Australian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the premiere industry trade show hosting almost 12,000 attendees and 605 exhibitors from 20 countries. The initial feedback has been positive and, according to attendees, the app put Bhagwan Marine on the map as an industry innovator.
