The event, to be held on 10 December, will focus on the latest developments in these fields and will discuss technology suitable for deployment in 2014. Representatives from the broadband, cable, and smart-home industries are free to register. Speakers confirmed for the event include heavy hitters from the major silicon providers, key industry fora such as UPNP and HGI's telecoms service provider members. During the summit a longer term view of service provider requirements will be delivered.

The effectiveness of HGI's work and creation of a published requirements document for Software Modularity on the Home Gateway has recently led to an industry-first Smart Home Gateway functionality demonstration and direct implementation at Broadband World Forum paving the way for industry adoption.

ABI Research predicted earlier this month that the smart home appliance market will grow to be worth $25 billion by 2018.
