The chairman of Wipro told a gathering of global CEOs at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum that the emerging economies are “more than fed up” of being lectured by the west to open their economies without any reciprocity.

"I think they (emerging economies) are fed up of being needled for opening their economies," a PTI report quoted Premji as saying.

He particularly expressed his disappointment with the US seeking more market for its goods in the developing economies, while putting restrictions on its import of services, it added.

In an earlier television interaction, Azim Premji had said that he was “extremely disappointed” about the performance of the government at the Centre.

“I am extremely disappointed. I think it is a national calamity and is personally very devastating because one had so much confidence when they (UPA-II) came in,” he told television channels in response to a question whether the present government was “unable to deliver”.

"But I think, it has reached a point of catharsis. And when something reaches a point of catharsis, there seems to be no alternative but to change. I am optimistic...," he added.
