FDI in telecom raised to 74%

NEW DELHI: With the Indian telecom sector attracting global attention, thanks to its rapid growth, Finance Minister, P Chidambaram in his budget speech announced the further opening of foreign direct investment in the telecommunication sector.



According to the minister's budget proposal the existing cap of 49 percent in the sector will be hiked to 74 percent. This could witness a number of global telecom majors making an entry and making huge investments in country.
