According to a TechCrunch report, the young social network mogul confirmed it that the profile bearing his name on Google+ belonged him only.

“Why are people so surprised that I'd have a Google account?” Zuckerberg told the TechCrunch reporter through a text message.

Zuckerberg's move is considered strange because, in networking world someone joining the rival platform is not very common. But unlike Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who preferred to keep themselves away from other social networking platforms, Zuckerberg has apparently decided to feel the experience of the rival camp. He also an account on Twitter, though it has not been updated for quite some time.

After announcing the new platform, Google had invited people to join the new service. However, within six hours, it stopped the invitation as too many people wanted to join it.

Interestingly the Facebook CEO has more followers than the Google founders and even the Vic Gundotra, the man behind Google+, with over 21,000 people.
