Facebook most visited site in April: Google

MUMBAI, INDIA: Social networking site Facebook is the most visited site on the web in April, with 540 million unique visitors, according to the new statistics by search engine Google.

According to Google, the traffic to Facebook, which topped the list of 1,000 most visited sites on the planet, accounts for around 35 per cent of all web users. Yahoo came second with 490 million unique visitors and served over 70 billion page views.

Microsoft's Live.com, which came third, got 370 million unique visitors and served 39 billion page views. Wikipedia came in fourth with 310 million unique visitors, said Google.

The list, which does not include Google itself, is produced to allow advertisers to plan where they would like to place ads.

"The list excludes adult sites, ad networks, domains that don't have publicly visible content or don't load properly, and certain Google sites," Google said.

Among the news websites, BBC website, which is at the 43^rd place in the list of 1000, drew the highest number of unique visitors.
