BANGALORE, INDIA: As per reports, social media giant Facebook has began testing a new feature in its Messenger app that will allow users to make free calls over Wi-Fi or data connection.

The feature is currently available only on Facebook Messenger for iOS in Canada, while it will be soon launched on Android and for users across the world.

"While voice messages instantly put Messenger on par with popular apps Voxer and HeyTell, VoIP calling is a much bigger deal, and would have enormous ramifications if it were to roll out to all Facebook users," says this report on The Verge.

If this takes off will this be a game changer for both Facebook and voice call industry? Moreover, do you think Facebook Messenger voice call can be a substitute for handsets and Skype?
