Facebook restores site after 4 hours outage

MUMBAI, INDIA: After fours of outage, Facebook has restored its website in Europe.

Visitors from Western Europe had first reported the outage. Meanwhile, Downdetector.com's Facebook map showed outages in North America, Europe, Australia and India as well.

According to reports, Facebook and its photo-sharing site Instagram were blocked around the world for up to an hour on January 27. Facebook blamed an internal fault.

However, the mobile app and Messenger services appeared to be working during the outage.

"Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can," a message on Facebook.com said.

But the company has not commented on the latest outage.
