Facebook embarks on the e-commerce journey, acquires TheFind

BANGALORE, INDIA: The social networking company Facebook has acquired TheFind as announced by the latter. The value of the deal is still not disclosed.

"Key members of our team are joining the company and will be working hard to integrate our technology to make the ads you see on Facebook every day better and more relevant to you. Unfortunately, this means we will be taking our search engine offline in the next few weeks," the company posted on its website.

The shopping search engine company was co-founded in 2006 by CEO Siva Kumar and CTO Shashikant Khandelwal, both Indians. The company had previously raised $26 million in venture capital from Bain Capital Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, and Cambrian Ventures.
