F5 aims to enhance data management

BANGALORE: F5 Networks, Inc., a provider in application delivery networking, announced that it has expanded its Data Solutions portfolio with the new F5 ARX 4000 and Data Manager solutions.

The ARX4000 is the latest addition to F5’s award-winning intelligent file virtualization platforms and is considered to be the industry’s first solution to support 10 gigabit Ethernet. F5 Data Manager product enables customers to quickly recognize infrastructure or operational problem areas and take a forward-looking approach to manage their evolving data storage environments, said a press release.

It even announced the new version of its FirePass SSL VPN (Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network) solution that would provide a browser-based access to corporate applications, networks and information.

It would enforce policies to ensure the devices that access corporate information adhere to a company’s individual security standards, the release added.

It stated that the file virtualization systems would simplify the management of large unstructured storage environment enabling automated tiering or information lifecycle management, reducing backup complexity and significantly reducing both operating and capital expenses.

“This launch underscores F5’s commitment to provide customers with the market’s most advanced network and data management capabilities that give enterprises the necessary tools to maintain a flexible, adaptable, yet highly cost-efficient IT infrastructure,” said Nigel Burmeister, director, product marketing, F5.

He added that the ARX4000, F5 would offer the broadest portfolio of file virtualization solutions on the market to address the data management needs of a wide range of IT organizations.

The new Data Manager product would enable the customers to quickly recognize infrastructure or operational problem areas and take a forward-looking approach to managing their evolving data storage environments.

Jason Needham, senior director, product management, F5, said, “The challenge of providing secure access as business, security, and compliance requirements change has prompted a number of enterprises to deploy SSL VPN solutions over IPsec alternatives.”

He commented that the FirePass would enable customers to simplify management for all types of users. The policy-based approach from F5 would deliver the flexibility that enterprises need to securely make the corporate data and applications open to the employees without sacrificing performance or convenience.
