F-Secure strengthens security of smartphones

BANGALORE, INDIA:F-Secure, a provider in IT security products and services, today announced the new version of F-Secure Mobile Security is available this month for the new S60 5th Edition platform. This is the latest version based on S60 Symbian OS.

S60 5th Edition brings a touch user interface to smartphone users, and F-Secure Mobile Security 5 is one of the first applications to support the new Touch UI, said a press release.

“People store their personal information such as pictures, banking details, e-mails, business projects and other valuable and confidential data on their smartphones, so it is important to protect your most personal computer," said Arnoud de Vaal, solution management director, F-Secure Mobile Solutions Business Unit.

F-Secure Mobile Security 5 enables smartphone users to experience the full potential of their devices without the fear of mobile threats, said the release.

It introduces new features, including a totally redesigned user interface and advanced anti-theft features with remote lock, remote wipe and theft control functionalities.

F-Secure Mobile Security introduces combined real-time antivirus functionality with a firewall, antitheft and antispyware for S60 5th and 3rd Edition smartphones.

"Corporate customers are very demanding in terms of secure mobile communication. Due to their increasing mobility, their requirements for security solutions are also growing. With Mobile Security 5, F-Secure offers a service which perfectly fits these growing needs,” said Michael Treutner, head of marketing at Swisscom KMU.

“Swisscom's cooperation with F-Secure has a successful history. Since 2005 we have been providing all Symbian OS-based smartphones with its services, which means we were one of the first operators globally to provide mobile phone devices with pre-installed security software," he added.
