Advertisment

Based on ARM Cortex-M0 and M4 cores, the Infineon XMC microcontroller families are dedicated to applications in renewable energy, factory and building automation, transportation, logistics, medical equipment, lighting, and home appliances. Express Logic's ThreadX with its high performance and small footprint provides fast real-time control to these applications.

The XMC microcontroller portfolio features a wide range of products from the low-end, low-pin-count XMC1000 family up to the advanced XMC4000 family targeting energy-efficient solutions, high-quality standards, long product life, and high temperature robustness for industrial applications.

The XMC1000 product family integrates the ARM Cortex-M0 core into a leading-edge 65-nm manufacturing process to overcome the limitations of today's 8-bit designs and to offer 32-bit performance at 8-bit prices. With XMC4000, Infineon combines its leading-edge peripheral set with an industry-standard ARM Cortex-M4 core. The XMC4000 family boasts of the horsepower needed to run the most sophisticated algorithms for today's industrial-control solutions.

ThreadX, Express Logic's small-footprint, fast, royalty-free RTOS, serves as a strong complement to the broad appeal of XMC microcontrollers with more than 1.5 billion deployments of ThreadX into electronic products in consumer, medical, and industrial applications worldwide. Available in full source code distribution, ThreadX is configured for use with IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (EWARM) for XMC-based projects. ThreadX demos for use with the XMC1100, XMC1200, XMC4200, XMC4400, and XMC4500 development boards are available for free download from Express Logic.

ThreadX has been certified by SGS-TÃœV-Saar for use in safety-related systems, under IEC 61508 and IEC 62304, up to SIL Level 4, and Class C medical devices. This certification not only proves that ThreadX meets the requirements of IEC 61508 and IEC 62304, but also gives developers a faster path to certification of their products that must comply with these regulations.
