BANGALORE: US based Excel Switching Corporation is exploring creating its own research and development center in India. It is currently outsourcing limited software development to Infosys Technologies. Whether it would consider stop outsourcing the work to the country's third largest software exporter is still not known.

Massachusetts based provider of carrier-class, open service platforms for OEMs, VARs and telecom service providers, Excel Switching is also eyeing the Indian market for business opportunities. A sales and marketing office is soon to be set up and agents, distributors and system integrators are to be appointed.

"Excel would like to take advantage of the growth in the Indian market and believes that the nature of its product and business model will fit very well in the Indian telecom market," stated a media report.

The Indian telecom has been witnessing one of the fastest growth in the world. The nation also plays host to a number of R&D centers for telecom and networking solution providers including Cisco, Nortel and Lucent.

Excel delivers a development environment including signal and media processing along with voice switching capabilities thereby reducing the time to market and development costs for enhanced communication services. Its platforms are used across wired, wireless and IP-based networks.
