In a recent move, Euclid India Limited, a Hyderabad-based network solutions company, has tied up with the Atlanta-based Internet Security Systems (ISS) and Intel. The dual tie-up enables Euclid to incorporate ISS’ security technology and Intel's Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology into its solution. Commenting on this tie-up, Euclid India COO R. Balakrishnan said, "We want to capitalize on the growing Internet market. Euclid is poised to play a leading role in enabling the emerging e-business focussed industry with services to tackle the challenges of this new era. Security and VPN solutions will form a key component in our overall strategy for this space."

Euclid offers high end managed services for large scale internetworking projects with productized solutions in different technology areas like VoIP, VPN, security, etc. While the alliance with ISS will enable Euclid to offer the entire range of products as a composite part of the entire security offerings, the VPN technology has emerged as a leading wide area networking technology over the Internet and is expected to grow rapidly in India. And given that Intel’s Shiva range secure VPN solutions is the de facto choice for VPN, Euclid believes that this tie-up will add tremendous value to its customers. Adds Mr Balakrishnan, "With the exposure to the net there is an immediate need to look at comprehensive security services and solutions. Firewalls have not proved to be a foolproof deterrent to hacking. With networks changing dynamically and with a heterogeneous environment there is also need to constantly audit one's own network to get a periodic update on the security health of the network."

Euclid India Ltd is also opening its competency center in Hyderabad by mid-January 2000. The center will impart high-end network training, including solutions prototyping, proof of concept and third party testing and certification services. The company has invested around Rs 20 crore in the centre. Also in the offing are offices in Chennai and Mumbai. Euclid is projecting a turnover of Rs 7.5 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2000 and plans to double it during next year.
