EU to complete probe by May 11

BRUSSELS: The European Commission said that it had received needed information and set a new date of May 11 to complete its investigation of Oracle Corp.'s proposed $7.3 billion hostile takeover of rival software company PeopleSoft Inc.

The Commission had been concerned about the impact of Oracle's acquisition on the market for business applications software used by large multinational companies to coordinate and plan their financial and human resources and relationships with customers.
