As part of the relationship, Extreme Networks customers now have access to the advanced asset management capabilities within eTelemetry’s flagship network appliance, Locate, which provides enterprises with the identity behind each switch port on the network without costly NAC or desktop agent deployments, said a press release.

The end-point visibility provided by Locate offers Extreme Networks customers many of the benefits of NAC or 802.1x without having to invest in new network equipment. Locate’s reports, available in real time or in historical format, on switch port and IP address usage include user identity and physical location, fully supporting enterprise security and compliance requirements.

“I look forward to building our relationship with Extreme Networks,” said Ermis Sfakiyanudis, president and CEO for eTelemetry. “As networks continue to become increasingly complex, IT managers are faced with a growing number of asset management and security concerns.

He added that their products contribute to Extreme Networks’ robust solutions by providing identity in an easy-to-deploy appliance, bringing to a broader range of businesses a painless solution to these common IT issues.

“eTelemetry provides customers with excellent choices for securing and managing their Ethernet network and is the latest addition to our recently enhanced Go Purple strategic partner program,” said Dick O’Hara, director of strategic alliances for Extreme Networks.

He added that the Go Purple partner program leverages the strength of Extreme Networks open approach to network infrastructure and the value that strategic alliances add to create more comprehensive solutions – from basic hardware interoperability to go-to-market initiatives.

eTelemetry’s Locate leverages its patented people-to-IP technology to correlate the person behind each IP address, MAC address, and switch port, in addition to identifying all virtual machines running on the network. Locate also includes alerts for changes in IP address, MAC address, switch port, person, and new devices on the network.

These capabilities ease capacity planning; help enterprises handle network changes and planned outages; and vastly improve IP address space, asset, and switch port management, the release added.
