NEW DELHI: ERP, Internet and e-commerce, can together be used to enhance the
potential of business and enable it to reach new heights. This was stated here
by Eastern Software Systems (ESS) chairman and managing director Anil Bakht, at
a technology seminar on 'New Generation ERPs" organized by ESS.
Speaking on the occasion, ESS director Sanjay Agarwal said, " ERP
adoption is very high in large companies but adoption in midsize businesses is
much lesser than expected. Problems in ERP decision is due to limited IT
awareness," he added. He also said that Internet based ERP represents a new
technology paradigm and has very few proven solutions. Speaking on the
investment part of the Internet based ERPs, he said that it would cost lesser
even in the medium term. Investment can be driven by the needs and even midsize
organizations would get the benefit from it.
Speaking on the Ebizframe, the online business framework that ESS has
launched in early 2000, Anil Bakht said that it is based on Oracle 8i and
Developer 2000 and has three-tier architecture that enables deployment on the
intranet and Internet. It also includes sophisticated data mining tool Discover
2000 for ad-hoc queries and reporting. He also said that this framework is
basically made for small and medium enterprises.
ESS is an e-business provider, funded by Intel and Citibank and has developed
ERP package specifically for SME segment. The company also offers ASP services
through its ERP-on-the-net offering in Asia. This year ESS has launched WAP
enabled enterprise solution 'Cellbiz'.
