ESET responds to 'Bits of Freedom' on detection of Government malware

BANGALORE, INDIA: ESET, global provider of security solutions for businesses and consumers, responded to the open letter sent from 'Bits of Freedom' on detection of Government malware. 'Bits of Freedom' is an influential civil rights movement which assists Government and business to bring better policy.

A coalition of digital rights organizations and academics recently published an 'open letter' to the Anti-Malware/Anti-Virus industry, and sent copies to individual vendors, including ESET. The letter asks for clarification on vendor policies as regards cooperation with government agencies and/or law enforcement using state-sponsored Trojans.

ESET responded on all the questions sent by providing the details on the detected malware alleged to be used by government agencies. Richard Marko, CEO at ESET said: "Our mission is to allow everyone to enjoy a safer digital world. It's our job to detect malware, and our customers expect us to deal with it when we find it. There is no such thing as a good Trojan and any such code can turn malicious in the hands of crooks and terrorists."
