Escotel, a national cellular operator, has announced the

launch of mobile services in the Delhi to Chandigarh Shatabdi Express. The passengers of

this train can now make STD calls while travelling in the train. The other two Shatabdis

from Delhi to Chandigarh--Kalka to Delhi and Delhi to Amritsar--will have the service by

the end of the month.

These services will also be available in Uttar Pradesh and

Kerala soon. Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Burman, Chief (Sales and Marketing),

Escotel,

said, "The launch of the cellular services in Shatabdi is in line with our philosophy

of providing the freedom and convenience of mobile telephony to more people. So far it was

not been possible for Shatabdi travelers to communicate with the outside world while

traveling. A large number of businessmen travel very frequently on this route and Shatabdi

is the most preferred option. With the launch of our mobile service in the train, these

passengers can remain connected with their business and families even while

traveling."
