DHAKA, BANGLADESH: Ericsson, the world's biggest maker of mobile phone network equipment, said on Wednesday it had won an order from Bangladesh's state-owned cellphone operator Teletalk to upgrade its network.
The deal will help Teletalk achieve more flexibility in its network designs, leading to faster implementations at lower costs, Ericsson said in a statement.
Ericsson did not give any financial details.
Bangladesh's mobile sector has grown rapidly, with subscriber numbers reaching over 51 million at end-October from 200,000 in 2001, helped by competitive tariffs, cheap handsets and steady economic growth.
